Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media also a speaker who is Canadian. She founded Feminist Frequency a website that provides commentary and videos on depictions of women's roles in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and a prestigious feminist for more than 10 years. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are represented in pop culture. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture, she works to highlight issues related to harassment targeted at women as well as other classes of the Internet environment. Sarkeesian who has the degree of Master's in Political and Social Thinking from York University, is a well-known public speakers. She has spoken at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her site Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was still a student at the University. She had a plan to launch a web series that would examine gender representation in video games. She ended up being the victim of a harassment online campaign. This attack didn't stop her, but instead strengthened the determination of an activist for women in media. Numerous awards have been awarded to her for all the contributions that she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her role as a critic of the media, and she founded Feminist Frequency.
